Getting Accredited

AccreditedAccreditation Requirements

To qualify for Accreditation, an IT Professional must meet the following criteria:

  1. Proficiency in Security and Privacy Requirements: A comprehensive understanding of the security and privacy obligations imposed on medical facilities must be demonstrated by successfully passing The HIPAA Institute's rigorous HIPAA Comprehension Exam.

In addition to the above, at least one of the following conditions must be fulfilled:

  • Two years of full-time employment as an IT Professional actively engaged in the day-to-day management of server/client-based network environments, encompassing the implementation and configuration of commercial firewalls.
  • Possession of a CompTIA Security+ certification or a higher-level security certification.
  • Possession of an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) certificate.

The HIPAA Institute is dedicated to promoting awareness and comprehension of the HIPAA laws within the IT community, particularly regarding the safeguarding of Protected Health Information (PHI).
